When to Buy Organic Produce – the Clean 15

According to the Environmental Working Group, EWG, we can reduce the amount of toxins we consume, on a daily basis, by as much as 80 percent.  But you have to know which fruits and vegetables you should buy Organic and which are safe to buy that aren’t labeled organic.

Most people ingest from 2 to 5 different pesticides a day … just from their produce.  So, how can we reduce this?

  • Eat a varied diet
  • Rinse all produce
  • Buy Organic if possible

Buy these ORGANIC … they have the most pesticide residual.

  • Strawberries
  • Apples
  • Peaches
  • Celery
  • Blueberries
  • Nectarines
  • Spinach
  • Bell Peppers
  • Cherries
  • Potatoes
  • Imported Grapes
  • Kale/ Lettuce

Safe as non-organic, these are known as “The Clean 15″

  • Avocados
  • Onions
  • Pineapples
  • Sweet Corn
  • Sweet Peas
  • Mango
  • Asparagus
  • Kiwi
  • Cabbage
  • Eggplant
  • Watermelon
  • Cantaloupe
  • Grapefruit
  • Honeydew Melon
  • Sweet Potatoes
