Aspartame in Diet Soda Is a Neurotoxin

sodas

Aspartame, also known as AminoSweet, is used in over 6000 food products.  And it could be killing some people or putting people into depression.  Isn’t that scary?  It has been proven to produce cancer in lab animals, so why do companies continue to use it?  Cost … it’s that simple, it’s all a matter of economics for food and beverage manufacturers.

The prime use of aspartame is in diet sodas, accounting for 70% of all aspartame used.  And, although not everyone is “super sensitive” to this chemical, it is not something that should be ingested in the first place.

Some of the most commonly reported neurological symptoms caused by aspartame intake include:

  • Headaches
  • Changes in behavior or mood
  • “Fuzzy” thinking
  • Seizures
  • Depression

If you are a soda drinker, whether you drink diet sodas or regular, you also need to be aware that consuming large amounts of caffeine depletes calcium and drinks with high fructose corn syrup are also not good for your health.  So, where does that leave soda drinkers?  With a few things to think about!
